DARAAREIN — A Hindi Rock Journey From Wounds, Through Forgiveness, to Peace

A deeply personal Hindi cinematic rock album, dedicated to my father and inspired by the journey from emotional wounds and broken relationships toward understanding, forgiveness and peace.

Today, I’m sharing one of my most personal music projects — DARAAREIN (दरारें), a Hindi cinematic rock and hard rock album dedicated to my father.

Born from real experiences, difficult questions and lessons that took years to understand, these songs explore the cracks that relationships can leave within us. But DARAAREIN is not an album about remaining trapped in those wounds. It is about what happens when we begin to understand them, find the courage to forgive, and finally allow ourselves to move forward in peace.

My father taught me perhaps the greatest lesson behind this album: the true meaning of forgiveness, simply by forgiving me.

दरारें — DARAAREIN

From Wounds, Through Forgiveness, to Peace

CINEMATIC ROCK • HARD ROCK • STORYTELLING

From BROKEN GLASSES to DARAAREIN

DARAAREIN began with four stories that I had previously explored through my English album BROKEN GLASSES.

But I did not want to simply translate those songs into Hindi.

Language carries emotion differently. A thought that feels powerful in English can touch an entirely different place in the heart when expressed in Hindi. So I returned to the emotions behind those songs and allowed myself to tell them again—keeping their meaning while giving them a new voice.

As the project developed, something unexpected happened.

I wrote another song: “Maine Koshish Ki” — मैंने कोशिश की (I Tried).

That song changed the emotional destination of the project. Instead of ending with questions about the past, DARAAREIN could end with acceptance.

Not everything can be repaired. Not everyone will be ready to forgive. Not every hand we extend will be held.

But there can still be tremendous peace in knowing:

I tried.

The Songs of DARAAREIN

01. Kisi Aur Ki Jung —
Someone Else’s War

The journey begins with the realization that sometimes we inherit battles before we are old enough to understand them. We accept someone else’s version of right and wrong, carry anger that may never have belonged to us, and only much later begin asking our own questions.

At its heart is a simple realization: we do not have to pass every war we inherit to the next generation.

02. Kya Haasil Hua? —
What Did You Gain?

What remains after years of anger? If an argument consumes decades of our lives, even being “right” may eventually feel like a very lonely victory.

Kya Haasil Hua? asks what hatred truly achieves when the battlefield eventually becomes empty. It is not simply a question directed toward another person; it is a question we can all ask ourselves.

03. Isse Koi Mard Nahin Banta —
That Doesn’t Make You a Man

Strength is often associated with winning, earning, dominating or refusing to bend.

This song challenges that idea.

For me, real strength is also the ability to stop a conflict rather than fuel it—to admit when we were wrong, protect rather than destroy, and refuse to hand inherited anger to another generation.

A strong man does not keep feeding the fire. Sometimes his greatest strength is having the courage to put it out.

04. Kya Seekha Tumne? —
What Did You Learn?

We can collect degrees, build careers, earn money, travel the world and become successful—and still overlook some of life’s simplest lessons.

Did we learn gratitude?

Did we learn to recognise sacrifice?

Did we learn to understand someone before it was too late?

And after learning everything the world could teach us, did we learn how to love?

05. Maine Koshish Ki —
I Tried

This became the emotional conclusion of DARAAREIN.

It is about reaching out without knowing whether another hand will reach back. It is about understanding that reconciliation cannot be forced and forgiveness cannot be demanded.

There comes a moment when we have to distinguish between giving up and letting go.

The song arrives at perhaps the most important thought behind the entire project:

My victory does not have to be somebody else’s defeat. My victory can simply be that I chose not to pass the war forward.

And after doing everything within our power, perhaps sometimes the most peaceful words we can say are:

I tried.

Why the Broken Glasses Remain

The visual identity of DARAAREIN deliberately continues the broken-glass symbolism of BROKEN GLASSES.

A broken glass can represent a relationship, a belief, a memory or even an earlier version of ourselves. Once shattered, it may never return to exactly what it once was.

But DARAAREIN introduces another important symbol: one glass remains standing.

For me, that standing glass represents survival.

Life can leave cracks. Relationships can change us. Words can wound us. People can leave. Yet something within us can remain standing—not untouched, but wiser.

Perhaps healing is not always about putting every broken piece back together.

Sometimes healing is simply learning how to live beautifully among the pieces.

Dedicated to My Father

This album is dedicated to my father. I love you Dad.

To my father, who taught me the true meaning of forgiveness by forgiving me.

There are lessons we understand when we are young, and there are others that require half a lifetime.

I am grateful that, despite everything that had passed between us, life gave me the opportunity to return, understand, reconcile and share beautiful years with him before he left this world.

That experience changed the way I understand forgiveness.

Forgiveness does not erase history. It does not pretend that pain never existed. It simply decides that pain does not deserve to control everything that comes afterward.

That lesson lives inside DARAAREIN.

A Personal Note

If there is one thing I hope listeners carry away from this album, it is this:

Do not wait too long to take that one step.

If there is someone you love but no longer understand, perhaps speak.

If there is someone you hurt, perhaps apologise.

If somebody genuinely asks for forgiveness, perhaps consider giving it.

And if you have tried with an open heart but another person is not yet ready, perhaps allow yourself to move forward without turning that disappointment into another lifetime of anger.

We cannot repair every relationship.

We cannot rewrite every chapter.

We cannot force another person to walk toward us.

But we can decide what we carry forward.

I have carried anger.
I have carried questions.
I have carried regret.

Today, I would rather carry gratitude.

Because eventually the arguments become quiet, the years pass, and the people we once fought with may no longer be there.

What remains are memories—and the question of whether, while we still had time, we tried.

DARAAREIN is dedicated to my father, with love, gratitude and peace.

LYRICS

I TRIED

There was someone

I spent half my life

Learning how to understand.

Too many years,

Too many battles,

Too much distance in between.

But I went back.

We spoke.

We listened.

Some things didn’t need a name.

And somehow after all those years,

We found each other again.

Then one day

He was gone.

But there was no war

Left inside me.

Only gratitude.

Only love.

And the peace of knowing

We made it right

While there was still time.

That’s when I learned

Forgiveness isn’t weakness.

Sometimes going back

Is the bravest road

You’ll ever take.

I TRIED

To put some broken pieces

Back together.

I TRIED

To leave the anger

Where it belonged.

I opened up my hands.

I opened up my heart.

I said

We’ve fought enough.

Maybe we could try

A little love.

I TRIED.

With everything I had.

I TRIED.

So I went to those

Who are still here.

No judgement.

No scoreboard.

I wasn’t asking

Who was right.

I only wanted peace.

I knocked on doors.

I took the steps.

I left my pride behind.

But two hearts cannot meet

If only one

Is willing to arrive.

Maybe what I gave

Wasn’t enough.

Or maybe…

You’re just not there yet.

I TRIED

Not to defeat you,

But to reach you.

I TRIED

To stop asking

Who was wrong.

I opened up my hands.

I opened up my heart.

The rest

Was yours to choose.

I TRIED.

And knowing that

Has finally brought me peace.

I TRIED.

Maybe every soul

Learns in its own time.

Some in one lifetime.

Some may need

A thousand roads

To understand

Forgiving someone

Doesn’t mean you lost.

Letting go

Doesn’t make you weak.

But I don’t want

Another lifetime

Carrying this war.

This anger

Ends with me.

If karma gives me

Another road,

I hope I walk it better.

A little more love.

A little less blame.

A little more understanding.

And far fewer wars.

Your battles

Belong to you now.

I cannot carry them

On my shoulders anymore.

And I won’t spend

The years ahead

Blaming you

For not opening the door.

As far as I could reach,

I reached.

As far as I could walk,

I walked.

As much love

As I knew how to give

I gave.

I TRIED!

To breathe some life

Into what was broken.

I TRIED!

To leave yesterday

Where yesterday belongs.

And the one

I made peace with

While there was still time

I carry that love

With me today.

And those

Who cannot take my hand…

I will not hate you.

Because my victory

Isn’t your defeat.

My victory is—

I DIDN’T PASS

THE WAR ALONG.

I TRIED!

With everything I had.

I TRIED!

I did my part.

And now…

I walk away

In peace.

One day

We’ll all be gone.

The arguments won’t follow us.

Neither will the pride.

Nobody will care

Who won the fight.

Maybe all that remains

Is how much we loved,

How much we forgave,

And when we had the chance

Whether we took

One step toward each other.

I took mine.

Maybe you couldn’t

Take yours.

That’s alright.

I still wish you well.

Because in this life

I didn’t choose hatred.

I chose forgiveness.

I chose peace.

And if someday

Someone asks about my story,

Don’t tell them

I fixed everything.

I couldn’t.

Just tell them—

He went back.

He opened his heart.

He tried to end the war.

And when he couldn’t

Bring everyone with him…

He didn’t become

What had hurt him.

He let go.

He lived.

He loved.

And…

He tried.

I tried…
